Apparently, my server got thrown into the back of a van the other day, and shoipped off to a shiny new datacentre, so drop a comment if something appears broken. It shouldn’t do, but y’know. these things happen. I say this every time it happens (third or fourth time now?) nd nobody ever does. Either that means that nothing went wrong, and my webhosts are doing their job correctly, or it means that nobody is reading this. I can’t use SFTP but that’ll probably just be the DNS kicking back in, or something.
Pointless post is pointless.
Well, that was a bit of a rollercoaster, but thanks to my own ingenuity, I’ve got my site back online. As predicted, the migration to a new server did indeed fall over for about 36 hours, partially to my own stupidity, and partially to my webhosts changing a configuration on the server that messed up my backups. Thankfully, the issues I’ve had have now been resolved in a timely fashion, and I’m back up and running again, which means I’ll completely ignore this site again for another 6 months… only joking.
This might mean I’ll be able to put Piwigo back on here, meaning I’ll be able to get a gallery back up and running – it was by far the most popular part of the site.
OH NOES. Looks like there are still issues. None of the dynamic links work. For fudge’s sake. I fixed it, seconds after I posted that. whoops.
I’ve been informed by my lovely webhosts that the site is going to be moved to a new host some time in the next week or so, which may mean a small bit of downtime. Of course, it doesn’t really matter, as nobody actually reads this anymore, but last time there was a server move, everything fell to bits, and it took me ages to get back up and running.
Hopefully, this won’t be the case, but if the site suddenly stops working, I’ve not bailed, I’ll just fix it “when I can be bothered”…
