Scribbler’s Laid A Big Juicy Log

This blog has been following the ups and downs of my life since November 4th 2000. Amazingly, it's still going.

RIP Humph

I don’t quite know how to bring this. I normally announce the death of celebrities with a large amount of dry, almost uncalled-for humour.

Today, I won’t. It is with great sadness and regret that I announce the death of Humphrey Lyttleton. Typing those words sends a cold shiver up my spine.

For many years, I have been a fan of “I’m sorry I haven’t a Clue”. The Radio 4 Show, in which he chaired for decades. In fact, I happened to be listening to a random episode which appeared in my playlist earlier today, Humph’s dry wit and impeccable timing had me in fits all the way through it.

I was lucky enough to be able to attend a recording of ISIHAC back in November 2006. For whatever reason, I failed to document it clearly on this blog, but it was without doubt one of the best nights I’d had in my entire life.

I can’t possibly begin to put into words what I’m feeling at the minute.

RIP Humph.

Oh.

Well, I wasn’t on The South Bank Show, and they didn’t show that much of ISIHAC. Bit of a disappointment, seeing as they recorded the whole program, yet only showed about 30 seconds of it, and only one, maybe two shots of the audience. Grrrr.

Coatesy is still being secretive about his reasons for cancelling Sunday, but has given an exact date to reveal his secrecy (see comment in post below). This both confuses and worries me, though I’ll not mention it any further on here.

I’ll cut this short is lunchtime is over. Depending on the weather, I might go for another walkabout after I finish work. It was too foggy yesterday, and today isn’t looking any better.

Words I never thought I’d ever say…

“I’m looking forward to The South Bank Show tonight…”

No, really, I am.

I haven’t taken leave of my senses, it’s just because I might be on it. It’s the one about Humphrey Lyttleton, the long-time presenter of “I’m sorry, I Haven’t A Clue”, which you may, or may not remember, I went to see being recorded with Chris back in November.

They had a camera crew there, which considering ISIHAC is a rado show, seemed a bit odd. All became clear when they mentioned they were also making an episode of the South Bank Show at the same time.

The camera panned into the audience a few times, so there’s a slim chance I could be on there. It’ll probably be good anyway.

Oh, and it’s officially spring!! Unfortunately, a previously arranged trip out with Coatesy fell through for some reason (a reason I simply do not know), but considering I had the camera charged up, I took it out anyway, so I’ll put some pics in my flickr shortly.
