Thanks for the visit! Here you will find pictures of streetlighting, along with various views of Steetley Magnesite, Jacksons Landing, and Hartlepool in General. There are thousands of other photos in my flickr profile, however these are not on there!

did the SOX lanterns get a wash? only because you'd wan't the lanterns to look new as they did back in the 70s not that any one will be looking at the streetlights lol.
what will happen to the 6m columns after the film crew have gonne, will they pay for the columns to be put back to the way they were?

There's a Column on a Grid road which has been Crashed into the Dual Carriaheway the odd thing which is why i'm posting this is its Leaning over facing you as you come anlong the Dual Carriaheway so what may have happed was a car was going the Wrong down the Dual Carriaheway and ended up Crasing into the column the Bracket arm from what i could see going down the road wasn't pointing down nor the QSM knowing the QSM is a heavy lantern i'd thought it would be pointing down or would have come off the Bracket. the Bracket is now facing the Grass Bank, but could Wind make it Lean? i mean its column door was missing, i do find it hard to belive that but thought i'd see if it could happen.

isn't that the street lighting Engineer who replaced the Thorn Beat 79?

A film crew are due to decend on Carr Street to produce a period 1974 drama and so the 1990s street lighting had to be altered. Yesterday I set about removing P224 55w SOX lanterns along with their swan-necks from Brierton Lane. The 6m columns seen here in Carr Street were cut to 4m and the Brierton Lane swan-necks fitted. The Beta 79s are now installed in Brierton Lane on stub outreach bracket arms. The street is tonight lit by 55w SOX. However last night this street was lit by 42w PL-T Topaz Noano 1 lanterns while the swan nacks were in Foster & Laws being unseized and fabricated.

Did the GEC Z5994 have water in side it? There's two near us that have water inside one being one that was switched off but soon to be back on or replaced and column V10 43 WN I think where the cell is is where the water is coming to it.

interesting how this MA50 had the gear replaced Indeed it being a SOX lantern, what would have been the reason for it not to be replaced?
  • Andy The Street Lighting Engineer - Sunday 29 January 2012 19:16
Indeed it is. This gear was replaced with a new 135w/180w SOX Parmar leak transformer. I relamped that 135w SOX G.E.C Z5994 lantern in the background- column 3 Lancaster Road!
