I’ve been mulling the idea over for a while. You all know I love(d) my flickr account for many years, but a number of things bothered me with it. It appeared to be behind the times. Fair enough, it was fast enough, but it wasn’t really giving me what I wanted from a photo hosting site. A disastrous change to their pricing structure and terms and conditions meant that the site wasn’t for me anymore. the flickr I loved was dead and buried. In fact, I marked all of my photos private on there as soon as this happened. I was no longer the customer, I was the product.
Ipernity seemed to be a popular solution to this problem, with seemingly dozens of members jumping the sinking flickr ship to this site. So, I thought I’d give it a go.
Here’s a test image to make sure everything works!
Already, I live it. The embed code is nice and clean. I’ve paid for a three-month account, so I’ll post my findings here.
EDIT: It appears very unlikely I’ll be moving away from flickr. As much as I appreciate ipernity’s interface, it provided too difficult to move everything over from flickr to ipernity. I might as well just keep eveything with flickr.
