Ah yes, it’s the Great North Run today, and no doubt there’s going to be a few people wondering what the theme music is that the BBC use on their transmissions. Of course, it’s “Going Home (Theme from Local Hero)” by Mark Knopfler. One of my favourite pieces of music.

EDIT: They used the same track for the 2010 race. In previous years, however, they’ve had shots of Mark Knopfler on the blinky bridge, but they cut this out this year, shortening the track dramatically. ATIF also photographed the 2010 event, getting a good shot of Mara Manau…. Myau… Yamou… Amayou…. that English bird with the funny sounding name.
