It’s time to change my life… maybe.
With mere hours before my 29th birthday, the last stop before I reach the big 3-0, I think it’s time to start seriously considering my future. As of next year, December 2009, I will officially be old. I will have a year to do everything I want before I am officially past it.
Soooo. I’m going to come up with a personal list. A list of things to do. But that will probably include three crap items. Therefore, I shall ask you, the general readers, what I should do… Let me intoduce you to… BEFORE I’M 30.
It will be an interesting challenge to see how far I actually get through those. Obviously, I will blog about my updates on this.

Number 10 : Get rid of some more crap after you thought you were done.
I’m doing this, as I’ve got *so much junk* that I don’t use that it’s ludicrous. I’m doing pretty well at not actually binning things but instead giving them away to people or charity shops, or even selling them (it’s amazing what tat people will pay a couple of quid for). Anything not going in the actual bin is a good thing :)

I did something similar a while back. If you’re serious about doing them you need to start breaking them down into milestones and putting attainable dates on each. Otherwise you’re buggered.

This is a great idea. If I can give any help, please ask.
Also, I was gonna say what Andy said. Break the goals down into smaller goals, and then put dates and times around these goals. It’s a lot easier to turn these into proper set of task rather than woolly goals that way.

Also spookly enough I’d planned to revisit the system I use for my goal setting this week as It is currently spread over two spreadsheets and a couple of websites.

I’ve been trying to use the “GTD” system for a while but I’ve not been very good about it :/ Occasionally I bother to fix it up and then it’s pretty good, so I’d recommend some sort of “official” system as not being as loony as they seem at first.

CHAD! So good to see you back. *hug*
It’s not been the same without you.
Learning a language is one of those things I’ve considered, but will I be able to do it in a year? I guess you are multilingual by now, how long did it take you to lear?

Doesn’t matter how long it takes or whether you are sucessful or not. If you join a class and make friends or just enjoy the class, that’s surely enough. It’s about broadening your horizons, meeting new people and learning new things. If you learn to introduce yourself and some phrases in another language it’s a bonus, right?
It’s more about putting yourself in a new situation, but if you are goal-orientated, GCSEs can be done in a year or pick the lingo of the place you want to visit next, both might be good motivators. If you are not interested in languages, there are plenty of other classes, groups and the like. I joined a Chinese class recently, now while my Chinese isn’t improving that much, I made some new friends to have a drink with, get to practice my Japanese and have learnt a fair bit about Chinese and Taiwanese culture and history- thanks to my interest being stirred. My teacher is also very pretty.
Good luck, I think I’ll follow your lead and set myself some goals/aims, I’ll be 32 next year……………………

I think for the first time, I agree with Chad.
Regarding Goal #7
I’d recommend using http://www.gyminee.com as it’s help you track your weight, workouts and nutrition. It’s very clever and helps with motivation too.
Also #9 is a silly goal. These things happen, you can’t force them. I’d recommend replacing it with; Have lots of Sex.
