It’s impulse-buyingtastic! again!
Probably around six months ago, I bought a laptop. It was a Dell. It was okay. It did the job, it allowed me to do stuff in places I wouldn’t have thought possible previously. It allowed me to write blogs in the garden, transmit my webcam from downstairs, and watch pornography on the toilet. OK, I lied about that last one,but you get the picture.
Anyway, yesterday, Ste R from work decided that he wanted to sell his laptop in order to obtain funds for doing up his car’s front bumper. Ste selling stuff is not a rare occurence. It seems that every time he comes in, there’s something else listed on what I jokingly call SteBay. At the start of the night, he had it priced at £250, with a wireless keyboard, wireless ADSL router, and a decent lappy case. I was hesitant, after all, I’d just spent £90 on an external 400Gb hard drive (more on that later). Hnnngh. By the end of the night, his final asking price was £200. Would it be worth it? How could I raise the funds? Easy. Sell my old laptop to my dad for the same amount. Woohoo.
So, I got a nice upgrade for free. Only downside is that it’s running XP home as opposed to XP Pro which the other lappy has. I’m not entirely sure what the differeneces are, but it’ll do for now. I’m considering using Linux on it if I’m truly honest. I have the restore disk for it too, so even if I do decide to switch to Linux, I can go back at any time.
OK, the hard drive. I’m using it to do backups of everything again. I need to back up my MP3 drive. Even though I have the majority on CD, I’ve began to make “changes” to it, i.e. deleting the ones I’ve got sick of, changed ID3 tags, etc. All of the things which are currently not backed up.
OK, that’s getting incredibly boring, and is bordering on the verges of being a fresh entry in the Complog, considering that’s not been properly updated since the dinosaurs were mere fluid filled eggs on a fresh new planet.
