Is it THAT time of the year already?

This blog has been following the ups and downs of my life since November 4th 2000. Amazingly, it's still going.

Coolest thing evar

Imagine having this stuck in the corner of your living room…..

This is what it would look like if you had an 8-ft King Kong model placed to the right of it.

Oh, and the England flags a few doors away are STILL up. I shit you not.

Hi. I’m stupidly depressed. 5 year anniversary.

I said I’d give it a year. I said I’d give it 18 moths. I said I’d give it until Easter. I now have been working at the same place now for five years. FIVE years. That is five years I’ll never get back!

And, to cap it all off, yesterday was one of those days where everything went south. All thanks to some complete cockend who made it into my entirely fictional little black book of people I’m going to hunt down like a dog when I finally go postal. Which the way I’m feeling right about now won’t be long. From every angle, it feels like everything I do at work is going to collapse in on itself.

It was only a few months ago, I was actually beginning to like work. I felt like it had a purpose. But then, MA resigned as a teamleader, and I’m felling the insecurity I felt years ago. And, I’m sick of it..

I’m beginning to feel lonely again too, which doesn’r exactly help matters. Like today, I’ve not spoken to my dad since 2PM this afternoon. I will not see him until Monday afternoon. I will have absolutely no.contact with anyone outside of work until Tuesday.

I have absolutely nothing to look forward to. In a years time, I’ll probably doing the same thing, up at 3:30 typing my depression into my laptop (presuming it hasn’t spontaneously combusted) in the vain hope that someone will take pity. Instead, I make myself look like a 26yr old prick. And I’ll probably look like a 27 year old prick in 6 months time. And at 28 year old prick a year later.

Maybe Wayne will appear by then. See, I think that’s another thing that’s getting me. Why has be disappeared? It’s probably an easily answered question, but it’s something that I’d like to know about at least.

One day, we were happily emailing between each other. Then I sent him one, and never got a reply back. OK, so I’m hardly one to complain about not replying to emails or getting back to anyone, but the last email I did reply to. It was inane too, just about NTL upgrading their speeds or something. But that was on 1st May. Absolutely nothing since. Was it something I said?

I’ve also not been in contact with Coatesy since the fateful night out in early February. Though, that one is entirely, 100% completely my fault, without any hesitation. And one which I’m about to correct. Though, I’d be surprised if he still reads this!

In a vain chance to get my mind on something positive before I head off to bed, I’ll chat about music.

Firstly, I’m listening to a piece of music I will always remember from some Athletics highlights show in 1987. It was the highlights of the Grand Prix meeting in Rome, before the World Championships were held there. And, the music is “Thieves Like Us” by New Order. I’m not sure why I remember it so well, but it stuck in my mind.

Another song I also like, which I have only just discovered is Abba - As Good As New. Yes, Abba. Sorry.

And a song which has just appeared in the playlist (I’ve not heard this for ages) is “The Pastels - A Different Drum”. An altogether interesting song.

Anyway, this clearly isn’t working. I think I’ll watch Black Books.

3 on, 3 off…

My mind is a torrent of exploding nothingness, as I enter Day 3 of complete and utter tedium, only pierced by the addictiveness of Jimmy White’s Cueball world on my lappy.

This would have been a pointless entry, except for the fact I’ve got some CDs on ebay!

It’s now over two years…

Yes, the Queens has been demolished for over two years now. No update on if and then I’ll get that DVD finished. Seeing as Wayne has disappeared (he was the only one who actually showed an interest in it), I think I’ll scrap the project entirely. However, as promised, here’s the extract from the post I was about to make about him…

Something which is concerning me, however, is the disappearance of Wayne. He’s one of my oldest friends, and although we’ve been friends for at least 15 years, he’s completely vanished off the face of the planet. We regularly contacted each other through the old CB, ICQ, etc. thoughout that time, discussing everything from lasers to lap dancing (we probably never actually discussed that but it sounded amusing), and I’ve not heard a peep from him since April. The emails aren’t bouncing back, so I don’t know if they’ve just been sitting there or what.

Other than the PC, I’ve got no way of contacting him, so I have no idea if something serious has happened. His parents certainly don’t have my contact details. So, it’s all a bit of a mystery, and I hope he’s OK.

That’s where it ended. I’ll keep you updated on the Wayne situation. I hope it’s not bad.

It is never too late to become what you might have been

… says the fortune cookie I’ve just eaten from last nights chinese.

So, it looks like it’s back to the age-old ritual of updating once in a blue moon. At least for now, anyway. My computer’s being totally stupid in this hot weather, and decides to present me with a nice blue screen every time I do anything the slightest bit CPU intensive. Oh well.

It’s been an interesting few weeks. Still no word from Wayne. I did type a large blog about his strange disappearance from the face of the planet, but during the middle of typing it, Daddykins made me some chips, and I never actually bothered getting it off the laptop. Oh well.

Went to Harrogate on the 8th Jul. That was a good day. It was the annual RAOB garden party. Basically, an excuse to take lots of photos, and to drink beer from a plastic glass…

No, I haven’t lost my right arm. It was just the quirky angle I was sitting. And, I’m the only person that can travel 100 miles, go to a function totally unrelated to music, and STILL come home with an entire armful of LPs and 12″s. Which is what I did. Two carrier bags full of records for £2. Unfortunately, the day was overshadowed by the fact I had a cold coming on, and I felt lousy for most of it. Grrrrr.

So, after a week off work, I had to go back. By this time, my head was in full mercy of this bastard of a cold, and no sooner had I sat in my chair, I’d decided that it was time to go home again. So, after being in work for two hours, that’s exactly what I did. BUt, there was just enough time for Frank to ask me if I want to start doing 12-hour shifts. I said yes. More on that later. Much later.

The next three days were spent on the sofa getting accquainted with an old friend called television. And not eating much.

By Friday, I was on the mend, and I had started my first 3 rest days. The weather was great. The temperature in the back garden reached an all-time record…

This image is a little bit of a fib though because it actually got hotter.

And then, I had work for 3 days. And now I’m off for 2 more days. Wooo.

Oh, and you know I mentioned about how long it would take for the the England flags being taken down, would you believe that someone in the street has STILL got theirs up? Madness.
