I noticed an abundance of flies on my way to the car yesterday. Then I noticed this in my neighbours garden…

See, that’s the difference between dogs and cats. Two cats can do that to an innocent bird, yet the most damage a dog can do is this:-

Oh, hurrah. I’m no longer sat on the last row. I’m now sat about three rows down. Next to the stats monitor, right next to the plasma screen showing the world cup. Which is great, as that means I have quite literally the best seat in the house for the England match.

But… that means two things.

1) I’m at work for an England match
2) The plasma screen has no sound. Picture the scene in the first episode of Max & Paddy’s Road To Nowhere, where Max is sat in the caravan with a “git hauuuge” plasma screen, and a tiny little pair of poundshop headphones. Great episode that.

This is it for your Monday update. Tune back in shortly for the Tuesday post shortly! Can’t believe I’ve actually kept this update-a-day thing going for so long. I thought it’d fizzle out after a week or so.

There are 11 (shortly 10) days to go. Will I manage it? Will I keep going after June 30th? You’ll have to wait and see. But, for now, I’m going to sit down, knock back my first can and contemplate stuff for a bit.

I still have no official word on what happened. Maybe they put vinegar on someones chips without them asking? They did that to me once.

“Salt and vinegar?”
“No thanks.”
(woman pours copious amounts of salt and vinegar over my chips)
(Er… I didn’t want…)
“Ohhhh, sh… can’t you have them like that?”
“No.”
(fx: sound of a bag of chips being dumped into a bin, and a fresh one being prepared)

Anyway. There’s been a police car stood outside said fast food establishment since the incident happened, which has now been a week and a bit.

It’s only been going for 9 days and I’m sick of it already. One thing that gets me about this one more than any other is the false patrotism everyone is showing about it. I don’t think there’s a street in the whole of Hartlepool which doesn’t have some type of England flag unfurled somewhere on it.

I can turn my head 45 degrees, look out of the front window, and see three different houses, with grotty flags hanging limply from the window.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m proud to come from a country where Steak and Kidney pie is the staple diet. I think if we’re proud enough to salute our footballers and their dismal performances by getting our houses decorated with cheap England flags, ironically made in China, we should have the pride to do it all year round, without having to wait until there’s a bloody football tournament in order to do it.

Or maybe I’m just bitter because we haven’t got any flags up.

Just came back from a great night next door with the neighbours. And, seeing as it was next door, I guess it would have to be the neighbours. Anyone else being next door would obviously be entirely incorrect and rather weird.

So, yes. Just like old times. It’s a long while since I’ve seen my ex-neighbours. James, their son still lives there, and is probably reading this now, a I gave him this URL a few days ago. It was good to see pretty much the whole family together again.

Nothing much to report since yesterdays post. Chris came over last night, and we had a cracking night. It’s a very long time since he’s been over. Far too long. But then, he’s back in employment.

Speaking of which, Chris has forwarded me 5 images of Steetley. These will appear in the gallery in due time, once I work out how The Gimp resizes images
