Eurovision?? EUROVISION???
Did I even consider for one second, writing about that load of guff? It’s old news. Lordi *were* good, though. I think I also liked the Swedish entry at the time. UK one wasn’t bad now that I’ve heard it again. And I promise that’s the last thing I’ll say on the matter. For 2006, anyway.
Moving on swiftly, yes, this is day three of the big long blog entry thing. I’m enjoying it so far.
Today started by waking up at 3:30, just in time to see Connor Travers get to the final of Countdown. I still love the show, though it’s getting more and more obvious that they really could have done without Richard Whitely dying. They can’t seem to let go to the fact that he’s died. And, in fact, Friday’s grand finale will see the unveiling and presentation of the “Richard Whitely Memorial Trophy”.
If I were Des Lynam, I’d feel awful and insulted doing the show, as if I was always going to be second best. Every few weeks, there’ll be an innocent comment inserted about Richard, usually about an amusing word which Richard may have giggled at in some point during the shows 20-something year run, followed by Carol saying something along the lines of “Ah, yes, that was our Richard”. At that point, I’d be squirming in my chair, just about ready to say “Yes, well. He’s dead, and I’m not. Can we just get the fuck on with it?”
And that, ladies and Gentlemen, is why I will never, ever work in Television.
No sooner had Connor won by what must be a record breaking combined points total of 224 (124-100), I was off out of the door and on my way to Asda to, once again, pick up some culinary delights for my 9-hour shift in Hell.
I bought a vindaloo curry, some buns (again), and a bottle of cherry coke. Also bought some chewing gum. Wrigleys have resurrected the cinnamon flavour gum in the form of “Extra Red-Hots”. So, as I love cinnamon, I also bought a packet of that. Bottles of bleach were also on special offer. I bought two (yes, two!) bottles of Domestos for a whopping £1.50. Bargain-tastic, I’m sure you’ll agree.
So, work beckoned. I prepared myself for hell. I can’t bring myself to even dedicate a sentence to how mind-numbing it was. That is, until the discovery of a *monster* elastic band, which, if fired at the right angle at someone could easily shatter bone.
Now, this was flicked about between us a few times. But then, John Th. got hold of it.
At this point, I must explain that above some of the desks, there are signs, made out of solid resin, with some of the companies logos silk-screened onto them. There are not many of these signs left, due to the fact they are *very* lightly held up with copper wire, and most of them over time have fallen down.
Anyway, JTh was pricking about with the elastic band of justice, and accidentally hit the sign above his desk. I think he was aiming at my head, but that’s irrelevant. This sign, in turn, came hurtling down, and landed squarely on his laptop.

What’s even funnier is the fact that the managed to get the Shift and Z keys back on. Unfortunately, in the process of fitting the X key back on the keyboard, he snapped off the little prongs which held the key top onto the keyboard. So, his lappy now has no X key!
As a momento, I’ve got to keep the X key, as I think it’s one of the funniest things I’ve seen happen in a good long while. It was excellent.
‘Excellent’, coincidentally being one of the words he can no longer type on his decapitiated keyboard. Along with ‘Axe-wound.”
So, that’s been my day. I arrived home at 2:15AM, after an otherwise totally uneventful evening. Came upstairs, opened a number of tinnies, and typed this.
Oh yes, another couple of things. I’ve been asked to comment on Netto, despite the fact that I’ve done it already.
So, without further ado:

Well, there’s the store, somewhat hidden behind a “Speed Cameras” sign. It’s not changed much from the outside, visually. Except for the fact they’ve replaced the red tarmac around the base of the building, and painted everything that previously had paint, in a “welcoming” battleship grey. Well, I suppose if it keeps costs low… oh, wait, 9p for a bloody carrier bag? I’d expect it to be painted in sturgeon blood…
For my benefit, and anyone else nearby, here are the opening hours…

I don’t know what’s more worrying… the fact I had both of these images to hand, or the fact I took the time to take them and edit them in the first place.
The other thing which is confusing me is the strange red lines that have appeared on one of the nearby roads… they make no sense.

Your first reaction is “Oh, they’re warning markers for a school”. Which could be quite correct. The slightly bent School sign in the image could be a clue. Except, there are these red marks AFTER the school, in both directions, though they’re not pictured here.
Those images were taken a week or to ago, and due to the shit shift I’m on, I’ve not had chance to see if they’ve painted text on them.
so, anyway. Onto the part you’ve all waited for. My reply to your comments. Yay, eh?? There have been more than usual, which shows this is working… to an extent. So here goes.
“Go for it Scribbler I know you can post till the end of next month. I have every faith in you, you did it when you first started the site you can do it again…” - Noscere
Indeed I did :) Except back then I was on the dole and actually had time to do it!! Ta for the comment, and I’m damn sure that when I’m halfway through it, I’ll need to read that again!!
“At last an alternative to Big brothers daily updates, jamies less sporadic ‘entires’. Well done J, Ill look forward to it.” - Andy M
Entires. Yes, I messed up. :) Too late to change it, I shall have to live the rest of my life knowing I’ve made such a glaring error.
“Andy, you’ll regret that if he runs out of ideas and decides to keep us up to date with Big Brother.” - Jebbie
I’m led to believe (and when I say that, I mean, was forced to watch it all last week) that Andy actually likes BB. I can guarantee that this blog will remain an entirely Big Brother free zone.
anyway, there may be a part two to this update later this morning… depends on how tired I am, and what I remember.

Keep it up J.
