Is it THAT time of the year already?

This blog has been following the ups and downs of my life since November 4th 2000. Amazingly, it's still going.

Just an an experiment

There’s niot reason for this, I’m justseeping how bbad my sight is out of my right eyes.

for the the first time, I’m typing, using my very, very weak right eye.

/removes cover from left eye

Wow. That’s shit!

I did find my way to blogger, on two attempts. Typing is shit. Yup, I’m pretty much blind in it. Ah well!

Just got back from Barnsley

Larger post later. Though, my hats off to the Darfield Chippy for what could very well be the hottest, most tastiest chips in the whole history. And also the Booze Shop, the first offy I’ve ever seen with its own domain name.

Glen

Glen’s updated his blog look for the first time in a few years. Which means, it’s time I copy him like the unoriginal arse that I am. This time, I’m going to try and switch over from Blogger to Wordpress, for no natural reason. This will mean lots of broken links, etc. until the search engines get used to it. Still. I’m prepared. And, by prepared, I mean I’ve backed everything up because I’m bound to bollocks it up.

Oh, well.

Yes, you can forget the fact that I could have won something on the Grand National. Because I didn’t.

I placed three bets, because the minimum you can bet by card at Ladbrokes is a fiver. Sooo…

£2 on Hedgehunter, £2 on Clan Royal, and £1 on Innox, to make up the number, all of them to win. Bear in mind, this was the first time I’d ever bet(ted?). I remembered Innox finished pretty close in last years’ race, so I thought it had a chance.

First fence.

So, as I watched a quid disappear into the toilet, I couldn’t possibly be as unlucky as THAT again, could I?)

Wouldn’t it just be the kicker, if the other two horses I’d backed finished in second and third place? Nah, surely, nobody could be that unlucky.

You couldn’t make it up, could you?

In fact, those two screen shots pretty much sum up my whole past few weeks. It all started a few weeks ago. I’d managed to get a bad toe from somewhere. Possibly a little bit of an ingrowing toenail, or something. I couldn’t put any type of pressure on it, without a pain shooting the whole way up my foot. That wasn’t the problem. I simply wore my dads’ trainers for a bit. They left enough room for me to be able to walk, without anything pressing on my toe.

It meant, that I had been at work for a week or so, in trainers. I could tell they weren’t happy about it, but fuck it. I made sure my toe felt alright before I even attempted to wear shoes.

Time passed, and my toe felt a little better. Good enough to try some slip-on shoes, that were also a little too big. So, I enter work, and after a trip up the stairs, I notice that the slip-ons are beginning to… um. slip-off. I decide to adjust my footwear once I’d got upstairs. This involves negotiating two doors. Not the trickiest of obstacles, I’m sure you’ll agree. One of them, however, is a fire door, where the springed mechanism had gone haywire, and so, it slams shut.

Back to rearranging my footwear. There I was, next to this fire door. I reach out, for what I thought was the edge of the wall. It clearly wasn’t. It was the edge of the door frame. On the HINGE SIDE.

My fingers literally got caught between a slamming fire door, and the wall. On the hinge side. You really CAN NOT imagine how much pain I was in. I think it’s almost the worst pain I’ve experienced in such a short space of time, second only to badly spraining my ankle in 1997.

I threw my entire body into the door. I ripped my fingers out, and spent the whole entire day trying to not cry with the pain. Remember, this was on the way INTO work. I still had to spend nine hours sitting there, with fingers possibly broken.

Next day came only my third visit to A+E ever. I just had to check these out. They didn’t feel right. Luckily, after an X-Ray, I was given the all-clear. They were just badly bruised.

This photo was taken pretty much a day or so after I’d trapped my fingers.

Not too bad there, although the bruising can clearly be seen. And, the fact I bite my nails.

The one below was taken a few minutes ago.

Don’t let the low light conditions fool you. The nail has now turned so black, that it is beginning to suck in light. It feels a bit dodgy, so I have a feeling I’ll probably lose the nail at some point. Nice.

Right, now that I’ve spent an hour typing, in great detail one of my injuries, let’s check “the sheet” for some further information on what’s been going on since the last major update.

I refer to “the sheet” as the page or so of notes I type when I plan to write a long, drawn out blog. Today, I was sat at work, on my lunch break, writing said list. I wasn’t sat at my desk. I was sat at one of the desks facing the window, feverishly scribbling notes into my notepad, making sure everything I wrote was a complete secret. JTh found it “intriguing” to the point where he literally asked me how to spell it.

Which brings me nicely onto the subject of email. Well, it doesn’t, but it’s worth mentioning anyway. If you’ve read this so far, you deserve to know this.

I will shortly be abandoning my personal email address, after purchasing another new domain name! This one will only be used for email only, so don’t go updating your bookmarks.

If you wish to have my NEW personal address (that includes you, Wayne, Coatesy, Owen, Glen, Chris, Elaine, Jebbie, James, James, JT, etc.) email me. On 30th April, I’ll stop checking said email address, and eventually delete it. The spam has become too plentiful.

Speaking of Coatesy (see! All of these things are connected!) He’s moved again, and is now living over the Marina. Due to my shit work patterns, and recent money fuckups, I’ve not had the chance to speak to him for a while. Luckily, now that I “know” my shift pattern up to a point, this should change. Grrr. Adulthood, and all of this working bollocks is shit. But let’s not start me on an unimportant rant.

In fact Coatesy did indeed feature in a dream last night. I know how you all love my “freaky dream postings” almost as much as my “comedy defecation” posts, and await updates on these with baited breath.

Er, the dream, then. Well, the shopping centre burned down. I try to gain access to the remains. Suzanne from work informs me that it’s sealed off while they do forensic work on it. Enter Coatesy, who is smoking for whatever reason. Either way, we go to the flea market which just happens to be on. I start looking through some records. I ask how much they were. 99p each. No thanks. But then, I notice a 48K, along with interface II, and Microdrive, for £3. I buy it delighted.

All of this happens to the tune of Belinda Carlisle’s “Valentine” from the album “Runaway Horses”. Then I wake up. That will mean something, to someone, some day.

What will NOT mean anything to anyone ever, is the TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE news that the “Auf Weidersehen, Pet theme” from series 1, known as “That’s Living Alright”, has been remade. For the world cup.

I don’t think I’ve heard anything so bad in all of my life. God, I honestly hope we don’t get past the group stages of the world cup, just so I never, ever have to listen to the abysmal levels that Joe Fagin has sunk to. Honestly, I respected the man until I heard *that*.

Right, that’s pretty much it for this bumper update, it’s almost taken two hours to type, and I’m sure it’ll take the same amount of time to actually spell check it. Let’s just go through a dn let my mind wander for a bit so I don’t have to keep editing it.

Just an update on the Kwik Save - it’s closed down now. It’s not been set on fire yet - it looks like there’s workmen inside it.

The streetlight replacement scheme stretching through Hartlepool has currently stopped at the Shell Garage roundabout. I have photos, but now I’m too tired to write about them. Or post them, for that matter.

Lotus House reopened, apparently with new owners. The curry has changed, for the worse. They’ve also emplayed a new woman on the end of the phone. She clearly once worked in a call centre, possibly Garlands. She sounds far too professional.

Noscere’s site has changed, also. I don’t have the new location to hand, but it’ll be changed in due course.

I got the Rondo Veneziano CD…

The track I was looking for is indeed on it. The rest of the CD isn’t that bad either.

Oh, and I won another One 2 Many promo photo from ebay. Awaiting for it to arrive.

I still class “Rockcliffe’s Babies” as one of the top ten theme tunes of all time. I’ve only just realised that the version I’ve heard is almost 3 minutes long, and is recorded in stereo. Considering that the series would have been broadcast in mono, there must certainly be a CD release of said theme somewhere. Ahh, nowt like ending a massive blog post with a totally uninteresting sentence on long-forgotten TV show themes!
